WOW. Here we are the summer Soltice has arrived and here in the Bay Area it is in the high eighties. I love sitting here in my craft room playing with my glitter.  For me one of the highlights of summer is the
Fourth of July.
I love getting together with family and friends, eating socializing and then going to watch the fireworks.
For today's card I used the Fireworks stencil (LJ 886) and the Summer stencil (LM294). I also used double sided
mounting paper and Handmade Hawaiian Coconut Soap.
I used the double glitter technique for this card.  All the supplies mentioned above are available through Dreamweaver Stencils.
The glitter  I used is from Art Institute Glitter. I used the following colors:
Cranberry, Navy, Blue Boy, Mustard, Shiny Silver and Gold.  For the background I used Crystal Glitter.
I hope your playing along with our challenge, some really fabulous cards have been posted on the Dream It Up blog.
IS ONE OF THEM YOURS!!!
Wishing you all a sparkling week.

Celebrate with the Sparkle of Glitter

 AND

ARE TEAMING UP THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JUNE TO BRING YOU AN AMAZING CREATIVE COLLABORATION MIXING DREAMWEAVER STENCILS AND ART GLITTER. COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE...WE PROMISE IT WILL BE A SPARKLING ONE!
For my card today I used the following stencils Celebrate (LS 90) and
Paisley Background (LX 7009), I also used Double Sided mounting Paper and
Handmade Hawaiian Coconut Soap. All of these items can be ordered from Dreamweaver
Stencils by your local retailer.
The glitter I used is from Art Institute Glitter. The colors I used are True Red, Canadian Blue and Angel dust.
I have an order for 4th of July cards and decided that this one totally fits the theme of Double Glitter.
I started with red card (4 1/2 x 6 1/4), I then cut a piece of white card stock 4 1/4 x 6 and di the same with a piece of double sided mounting paper. Each side of the mounting paper has a protective coating. Remove the protective coating from one side and adhere it to the card stock, when that is done soap the back of the stencil ( this allows the stencil to come off the sticky surface easier) and then using a large stencil brush remove any crumbs of soap that may be in the area to be glittered. now remove the other protective coating and pace the stencil on the sticky surface, I use the protective coated paper to burnish the stencil down so that no glitter gets underneath the stencil. I then poured the True Red over the paisleys and using my finger pressed the glitter into the stencil. I brushed the excess glitter of the stencil and then turn it over onto a hard surface stencil side down and pulled the paper away from the stencil, this keeps the stencil from getting bent. The background was then done by pouring Angel Dust Glitter over the remaining sticky surface.  I basically did the exact same thing with the Celebrate only I cut the mounting paper and card stock a 1/4 of an inch larger then the stencil and mounted the stencil so it had a border. I used the Canadian Blue for the Celebrate.
I really love the sparkle of the glitter and after all what better holiday to have sparkle then the
4th of July.

Hope you have a sparkling creative week and let us see your creations.

Double Glitter or Wedding

 AND

This month we are using the Double Glitter technique on our cards. We are using the fabulous Art Institute Glitter, check ourt their website to see all the wonderful colors they have.I was playing around this weekend and did this new Daisy Background (LX 7014) in Glossy White Paste on black card stock. While the paste was wet I sprinkled in some Goldfinch Metallic F/X, I liked it so much I decided I was going to use it for my background.

Now I had to decide what image I want to do in glitter. I decided to do the Dragonfly (LM193) because I thought you might just see a dragonfly in a field of daisies.
I started by cutting my Doubled Sided Mounting paper just a little bit larger then my stencil, I also cut a piece of card stock the same size. I removed one side of the Double Sided mounting paper coating paper and adhered the card stock to the sticky side. Next I soaped the back of the stencil, then with a lg. stencil brush i remove any soap that got onto the edges of the image. Now remove the other coating paper and place the stencil soap side down on the sticky surface. Press it down firmly so the colors you are using don't bleed under the stencil. I used the Brown Glitter #58 to do the body using a straw that I cut on the diagonal as a scoop to pick up the color and place it where I wanted that color. The  upper wings were done in Melone #90, and the lower wings were done using Mustard #235. After the glitter was placed I used a large fluffy brush to get the remaining color of the stencil so it wouldn't get on the background. To remove the stencil you want to place your paper stencil side down on a hard surface and pull the paper up from the stencil, this will keep your stencil from being bent. When that was done I did the background with Crystal Glitter #85. This is a fun technique to do and I hope you will all try it and send in your creation so we can see what you've created.

Happy Stenciling and Glitter Dreams
until next week.
